Our Story

E.C.V.M.M. opened its door in 2004.  The museum was the dream of the late Joel Bourne, who along with other veterans and individuals in Edgecombe County brought the dream to reality. Originally the museum was located in a small space on Main Street in Tarboro, North Carolina but it quickly outgrew this location. After changing homes several times the museum found its permanent location at 106 West Church Street.  The museums collection and archives has grown far beyond the original vision for the museum and is a true legacy in Edgecombe County.

Mission Statement

The Edgecombe County Veterans’ Military Museum mission is to preserve the heritage of the Veterans of Edgecombe County, for them as well as their prosperity. They served their country, let’s serve their memory.
